Inland Empire
TACA holds monthly meetings in many locations throughout the United States that feature educational speakers on important topics and allow family members to connect with one another and stay on top of the latest information in the autism world. IEPs Best Practices (Advanced) If you are a veteran at IEP meetings, we have not forgotten about you. If you are a parent with a child who is three years of age or older and you have been attending IEP meeting for over a year and a half, please join us for our free Best Practices at IEP Meetings legal seminar. This is an intermediate seminar for parents who have been attending IEP meetings and want tips and best practices to use and some case references to look at. **Spanish language translation is available with prior notice. Please call the TACA office at 949-640-4401.** Maryam is licensed to practice Law in the State of California and has been an advocate for children with disabilities since 2004. Her position at TACA was created through the generous support of the Pacific Life Foundation. Maryam’s primary focus is advocating for parents who have children with autism in the Orange County area. In her role as Advocacy Program Coordinator, Maryam designs and presents legal seminars on Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), California’s Early Start Program, California’s Lanterman Act, Individualized Family Services Plans (IFSPs), Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), and IEP negotiation strategies. Maryam also counsels parents in preparation for meetings with school districts and due process hearings. Prior to joining TACA, Maryam worked as an advocate for parents through the University of San Diego Special Education Clinic. There, she managed over thirty special education cases at a time, advocating on behalf of parents and negotiating with school districts in IEP meetings. Maryam also successfully guided special education cases through due process hearings which resulted in favorable outcomes for parents of special needs children. |
